USPS Postmark Policy
Taxpayers mailing their property tax payments should be aware of the following USPS postmark policy: "Under USPS rules, a machine-applied postmark indicates the date an item is first processed at a regional distribution facility, which may be days after you drop it off. To guarantee a postmark matches the exact date you drop off your mail, you must hand the mail piece to a clerk at a staffed USPS retail counter and specifically request a manual (local) hand-cancel."
